The Airbus A380 is the largest passenger airline in the world. Its gigantic size causes many airports worldwide to expand their facilities in order to accommodate it properly. Manufactured by the European corporation Airbus, this double-deck, four-engine jet airliner is also one of the most expensive aircraft in the world. However, it is also one of the most luxurious and comfortable ones, especially for passengers. Here is a quick look at the interior of the Airbus A380.
The economy cabin
The economy cabin of the Airbus A380 can seat 399 passengers and has some pretty amazing features. The straight walls are designed to give the impression of increased spaciousness. The advanced mood lighting system is also state of the art, as well as the noticeably quieter cabin. These features combined work to combat the effects of jetlag. According to Emirates officials, the economy class has “more generous seats, wider isles, gourmet chef-prepared meals and the Emirates’ personal touch“. This may lead passengers to think they are seated in the wrong cabin class!
The upper deck
The upper deck is advertised by the carrier as a “premium hotel in the sky” and promises a great level of comfort and space that no other commercial airliner features. The whole of the upper deck is dedicated to Premium Class passengers: 14 in First Class, and 76 in Business Class. The upper deck also features an Onboard Lounge, which is located in the business class cabin and can be used only by first class and business class passengers. The lounge is designed to make passengers feel like they are in their own executive club.
There is also a first class social area and bar, which is located at the front of the upper deck. In the forward section of the upper deck, passengers will find 14 flat-bed, massage-equipped private suits for first class passengers, which include features such as:
- remote controlled doors
- work desk
- electrically controlled mini-bard
- advanced in-flight entertainment system
The business class cabin
The business class cabin is equipped with intelligent seating, designed to ensure all sears have aisle access. “There’s a cleverly designed table that never gets in your way, a seat that slickly becomes a fully-flat bed, and laptop stowage“, the Emirates says.
The first class cabin
The first class cabin of the Airbus A380 comes with On Board Shower Spa, meaning two fully equipped bathrooms that include shower facilities. This is one of the airliner’s features that has gained the most media attention. After all, Emirates promised some special surprises with the Airbus A380, and this certainly is one of them. The airline refers to it as “the jewel in the aircraft’s crown“.
Besides these great features, the airline has hired additional staff to keep things tidy on the huge Airbus A380. This includes specially trained Cabin Service Assistants, whose job it is to keep the cabin (including the Shower Spas) immaculate. They will also help the regular Cabin Crew focus on cabin safety and serving passengers.
